Train your bot
Teach it your services, hours and answers so it sounds like you.
What your bot knows
Your bot only knows what you tell it, plus anything it reads from your website. It does not invent prices or policies, and when it does not know something it hands the conversation to you.
Everything it knows comes from the Bot setup tab. Changes take effect immediately — there is no retraining step and no waiting.
Fill in your business details
On Bot setup, work down the form:
- Business name, Industry, City, State, Phone number, Email, Website — the basics it needs to answer "who are you" and "how do I reach you".
- About your business — a paragraph in your own words. This shapes how it talks about you.
- List your services (one per line) — be specific. "Teeth whitening, cleanings, Invisalign" beats "dental services", because the bot can only mention what you list.
- Hours of operation — so it can say when you are open and take a message when you are not.
- Areas you serve (one per line) — lets it answer "do you come out to…" correctly.
Let it read your website
Put your address in Your website URL and the bot will read your pages and learn from them. This is the fastest way to give it depth without typing everything out.
Use Additional resource URLs (one per line) for pages worth reading that are not linked from your homepage — a price list, a policies page, a detailed service page.
Re-read after you change your site. The bot keeps what it learned. If you rewrite a page, run the read again so it picks up the new wording.
Add FAQs
The FAQs section is for exact question-and-answer pairs you want handled a specific way — deposits, cancellation policies, insurance, warranty terms.
An FAQ takes priority over what the bot inferred from your website, so it is the right place for anything you need worded precisely.
Not sure what to add? The dashboard shows the questions your visitors actually ask most. Work through that list.
Set its name, tone and language
Bot name is what visitors see at the top of the chat. A first name works better than "Assistant" or "Bot".
Tone sets how it writes — warm and chatty, or brief and professional. Match how your business actually speaks.
Language sets the language it replies in.
Welcome message is the first thing a visitor sees when the chat opens.
Proactive and takeover messages
Proactive message (sent after 30 seconds) is sent automatically to a visitor who has been on the page a while without starting a chat. Make it a question about the page they are on rather than a generic greeting.
Human takeover message is what the visitor sees the moment you step into the conversation yourself — something like "Dave here, taking over from the assistant." See Live chat and takeover.
Canned responses
Canned responses are your own saved replies, for when you are chatting as a human. Directions to the office, a deposit explanation, a link to your booking page — anything you type often.
Add them on the Canned responses tab, then insert one with a click while you are in a live conversation.
